# DM expected amount

> How much will this mailing raise from this supporter?

Predicts the gift value attached to a mailing — so you can target on expected revenue and forecast income before a campaign goes out.

**What it predicts** — The euro value of the gift attached to a mailing. It can be trained on responders only (a conditional "if they give, how much?") or across the whole list.

**Who it scores** — The mailing universe, alongside [DM propensity](/models/dm-propensity).

**The decision it drives** — Target on **expected revenue** (likelihood × value) rather than likelihood alone, and forecast what a campaign will raise before it goes out.

**Worked example** — Two supporters are equally likely to respond, but one typically gives €15 and the other €120. Ranking on expected value pushes the higher-value supporter up the list and shapes which segment gets the higher ask.

**What good looks like** — Higher income per pack mailed and a credible pre-campaign income forecast.
